Filling Phase

Reaction (Aeration) Phase

Settling Phase
Aeration is stopped, and the mixture is allowed to settle. During this phase, biological sludge settles to the bottom while a clear water layer forms on top. No mixing takes place throughout this phase.

Decanting
The treated water remaining at the top is discharged from the reactor with the help of pumps. The reactor then re-enters the filling phase and the cycle continues automatically.
